Below is a link for my custom Superior Drummer 3 w/ Death & Darkness SDX and Metal Machinery SDX preset- The Golden King: Just open and save as your own user preset. The custom preset that I made called The Golden King was my attempt at chasing Paul Bostaph's drum tone off of Testament's Formation of Damnation album.and I must say, it sounds relatively close. The presets that come with the packs sound great! Personally, I do not create Black Metal or Death Metal, though the drums sound great for that purpose I use it for thrash metal. Seriously, I highly recommend this Superior Drummer Expansion pack or the 2 EzDrummer Expansion Packs. Toontrack’s Death & Darkness SDX is one word.Amazing!! You do get a specific channel for the ride though with the Death and Darkness SDX which I like that isn't included in the Core Library. The Core Library is really versatile though and you could definitely get by with just that. I do feel like the Death and Darkness SDX is geared more towards metal but it could be used for other styles depending how you mix. Overall I don't think you can go wrong with the Core Library or the Death and Darkness SDX as they all sound good as do most of the Toontrack products. I like all three kits but I am leaning toward using the Darkness SDX.
I will be uploading a finalized version of the song in the next week or so with vocals. The second section of the video is just the kits themselves being switched between.

The first section of the video is the play through with the full mix switching between kits. I mixed each one to what I believe sounds good in a metal mix with a big wall of guitars style sound.
One with the Superior Drummer 3 Core Library, one with the Death SDX, and one with the Darkness SDX. In this video I mixed down three different versions of a track I am working on. If you would like to hear the completed song with vocals here is the link:
